As a UI/UX Designer at Convalesce Labs, a pre-revenue, early-stage startup, you will play a key role in developing our Minimum Viable Product (MVP). You will be responsible for designing intuitive, user-friendly interfaces, wireframes, and prototypes that align with our vision and user needs. With minimal collaboration, you will conduct independent user research, creating a seamless digital experience that supports our mission of revolutionising mental health care. Role
As a UI/UX Designer at Convalesce Labs, a pre-revenue, early-stage startup, you will play a key role in developing our Minimum Viable Product (MVP). Role
- Competitive Early-Stage Compensation: Starting salary of $1,000 to $2,200 per month, with room for growth $3,200 to $4,200 post-Series A funding.

Responsibilities
- Design wireframes, prototypes, and user interface for mobile (iOS and Android) and web applications.
- Collaboratively conduct user research and studies to understand the needs and pain points of the target audience.
- Develop user personas, storyboards, and customer journey maps based on research insights.
- Create and maintain a consistent visual language and design system for the app.
- Test designs for usability, iterating based on findings from user studies.
- Ensure designs are aligned with the app's target audience, creating intuitive, user-friendly, and engaging experiences.
- Stay updated on the latest UI/UX trends, tools, and technologies to integrate them into the design process.
- Prepare and present design concepts and prototypes to stakeholders for review.
Requirements
- Currently pursuing a degree in a design-related field at the undergraduate or graduate level, with familiarity in UI/UX methodologies, or proven experience as a UI/UX Designer with a portfolio showcasing relevant work.
- Ability to work independently with minimal collaboration.
- Strong understanding of user-centered design principles and best practices.
- Familiarity with mobile-first and responsive design principles.
- Experience conducting user research, interviews, surveys, and usability testing.
- Proficiency in design tools such as Sketch, Figma, Adobe XD, InVision, Framer X or similar.
- Experience with prototyping tools like Axure, ProtoPie, Justinmind, Marvel App or similar.
- Expertise in graphic design tools such as Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, Affinity Designer, CorelDRAW or similar.
- Familiarity with interaction design and animation tools like Principle, After Effects, Lottie, Rive or similar.
- Experience with wireframing tools such as Balsamiq, Wireframe.cc, MockFlow, Moqups or similar.
- Knowledge of design handoff tools like Zeplin, Avocode or similar for developer collaboration.
- Basic knowledge of frontend development (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) to communicate effectively with developers.
- Experience with 3D design tools like Blender, Cinema 4D, or Adobe Dimension is a bonus.
- Familiarity with UX research tools such as UserTesting, Lookback, Hotjar, Maze or similar.
- Experience using version control for design (e.g., Abstract or Figma's versioning features).
- Experience with accessibility testing tools such as WAVE, Axe, Stark or similar.
- Experience with CMS tools like WordPress or Webflow to understand design limitations and opportunities.
